Every month I produce a newsletter
for more than 250 subscribers. We continually update throughout the month so
remember to check back. The newsletter contains articles and quotes that are not
necessarily my views - but I like to think that us Borzoi owners are open minded
enough to listen to everyone. If you have any
bits and pieces for features please email them to me at coronadoborzoi@aol.com

A
21st century coat for dogs.
A New kind of dog coat,
in order to protect the important muscle groups and thus keep the dog from
injury, we developed a completely new Dog Coat. The result was OBTRACK™
Skrylle.
Read about this amazing new coat famed for it’s highly breathable system,
which gives warmth without the traditional weight and bulk, blocks wind and
sheds rain and snow.
Always on the look out for new sighthound collars, Northwind
whippets not only have good martingale
collars, but also sell slip
leads for lure coursing too.
Music
designed for hearing ranges of Dogs and Cats! Calming and Melodic tunes for
our pets.

This was such a nice letter from Wendy Finlayson that I got her
permission to post it as I think it's always great to hear how people
started especially over the other side of the world!
Wendy wrote
"Thank you very much for the
opportunity to receive the 'Coronado Borzoi Newsletter', I will look forward
to reading it and hopefully being able to contribute to it.
I would imagine that you have come to
know so many 'Borzoi People' around the world through your newsletter, so I'll
write a wee brief about me, Wendy Finlayson.
I live in New Zealand, in the Waikato
Region on a large deer and beef farm with my other half David. My
interest are of course farming and my passion Borzoi & horses.
My Mothers family always had had English
Setters, some of which my Grandfather imported from England. They were
his shooting companions as well as show dogs. My Mother had fallen in
love with Borzoi at a dog show when she was a child and had always hoped to
one day have a Borzoi of her own.
I was lucky enough to get my first Borzoi
when I was about 11 years of age, thanks to Mum, her name was 'Borstaff
Mir' and later her litter brother 'Nibo' also came to live with us.
Their breeding goes back to - Boran (U.S.S.R.) - Matalona - Fortrouge -
Greenhaven and Yadasar. My two lovely Borzoi were the love of my life
and were wonderful to grow up with.
In 1984 a beautiful black and white
bitch came to live with us, 'Bolshoya Khazaka' Australian kennels
behind her, Mindean - Boronaff - Dolinoff - Arbee.
For some time in my life there was no
Borzoi. I spent a considerable time travelling and was able to see
Borzoi around the world and meet with other Borzoi people. As time went
bye I developed an 'eye' for the Borzoi of the 'type' I liked, structure wise,
but of course with delightful temperaments being a must. I searched for
the right Borzoi for me and for our aspirations to have our own
kennel and breed quality Borzoi. I found HIM!
In Sydney, Australia, I meet Tony Ikin and
Steven Evans of 'Mistraka Borzoi'. I had fallen for the dog they were
showing, 'Gr Ch. Podarn The Mikardo'. They had puppies at home by him out of 'Leicros
Zilver Lining of Mistraka' (Imp. Swd.) The dam was such a beautiful
bitch, strong and sound and both parents had the most wonderful temperaments.
The puppies were fantastic, I was allowed my pick! I purchased 'Mistraka
Jesse James'. Jesse is now 8 years of age he's my best friend.

Mistraka Jesse James
He
leads a wonderful life on the farm keeping him fit and strong. His
sister, still owned by Steven and Tony of 'Mistraka' is 'Grand Ch. Jane Ayre'.
Jesse has just won top point scoring Borzoi in New Zealand for 2003-4.
He was also top 'Pedigree Pal' Borzoi of the year in 1999-2000-2001-2002.
In 2000 we imported from Sweden, 'Ch.
Leicros' Russian Zellawie' from Conny & Lillemor Croneryd.

From her
and Jesse we have our first 'MayVale' Borzoi. Yes, a litter of ONE, 'MayVale
First Lady', know as 'Sophie' and from a litter of one, I could not have hoped
for a better puppy! Sophie was born 28 March 2003. She has just
won Puppy of the Year 2003-4. We are hoping that Zella is in pup to
Jesse again but won't know until the 29th of this month, our fingers a
crossed.

MayVale First Lady
In 2001 we imported 'Ch. Mistraka Nurse
Betty' (Lara), again from 'Mistraka Borzoi' in Sydney.
That's a run down on who lives here at the
'MayVale Borzoi Kennel'. I have attached some photos for you.
The first is me at a show with my first two Borzoi, they are 10 years of age
in this photo. The second is a recent photo of Jesse aged 8 years.
The third is 'Zella' from Sweden. Then we have 'Sophie' our puppy.
Next is one of Jesse giving me a kiss. The last photo is of me with
Mr Gillet of 'Rancho Gabriel', California. Any can be used in your
Newsletter if you wish.

I will look forward to your newsletter with
great interest and hope to meet with you some day in the future.
All the best,
Wendy Finlayson.
I hope you enjoyed reading about Wendys life on the farm and
